Drug and Alcohol Trends Gaining Popularity among Young Adults

What is happening in our community and what can we do about it?

  1. What are the current trends?
  2. What are school ramifications and the legal ramifications?
  3. What are the impacts of vapes, marijuana, synthetic drugs and alcohol on young adults?
  4. What are the signs of addiction and what can we do about it?
  5. What are the services that are available to young adults and their families?

Some of the Community Partners in the Panel:

Officer Jayme Derbyshire, Montgomery County Police Department: sharing the legal ramifications to students and for parents, what is seen in the community, etc.

Bill Gregory, Sherwood High School Principal: School policies, etc.

Alex: sharing his personal story of recovery.

Andy Jillson, CSC-AD, group facilitator for Adolescent Substance Abuse Prevention Program with Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Services, Montgomery County DHHS: sharing early warning signs and treatment and prevention resources within the community.

The phones at Rosa Parks Middle School were updated and new phone numbers have been assigned. The old phone numbers will continue to work through January as they are being forwarded to the new phone numbers.  Please update your contact information with our new numbers.   The new phone numbers are below:

Family Movie Night

Friday, October 20th.

We will open at 7:00 pm. with the movie starting by 7:30 pm. (earlier if sunset allows).

The movie will end by 9:45 at the latest.

Movie is free.

Please bring your own lawn chairs and/or blankets.

We will have popcorn, candy and drinks available for purchase.

We will be viewing on the “4 Square Courts”. Please enter behind the cafeteria to the right of the building.

If it rains, we will move into the cafeteria, but still bring your own chair.

This is a family event.

Students, please plan to attend with your parents.
