2010-2011 Student Orientation Day for Rosa Parks MS and Sherwood HS

I know it’s a little early for some of us – but I know others do like to get advance notice of these things – so this is for you. We will also be planning an evening orientation for new incoming students and their parents sometime the week before school starts – more on that to come later this summer.

Orientations for Middle and High School Students Set for Aug. 26

Student Orientation Day is scheduled for Thurs., Aug. 26, this year. Look for specific information from your child’s school over the summer.
Orientation Day is an opportunity for middle and high school students to meet their teachers for the upcoming school year, learn about class schedules, and ensure that students are ready for the first day of school.  *Classes start on Mon., Aug. 30*.

RPMS Volunteers

Our parent volunteers are the heart and soul of the Rosa Parks PTA. They seek no recognition for the work they do and serve the Rosa Parks community by being available whenever help is needed. Thank you for jumping in and being there to lend a helping hand!

Please Consider Volunteering with the Rosa Parks Middle School PTA!

You can volunteer at Rosa Parks in one of three ways:

  • Fill out the green volunteer form, which will quickly get your name to the right people! Forms were sent home in the RPMS summer packet. They are also available  in the main office.  The form is also available by clicking here or by going to the Useful Documents link.
  • Sign up for the Rosa Parks Yahoo site at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rpmspta/. Volunteer opportunities are posted as they arise throughout the year.
  • Use the PTA Contact Us form to reach officers and committee chairs directly, or contact our volunteer coordinators, Susan Donsky (donskymom@verizon.net), Stephanie Sebeck (sebeck@comcast.net) or Michele Proctor (mspcraftyone@verizon.net).  Any of these people will help you get plugged in and working for our children and our school!

Message From Dr. Jones

June 16, 2010

Greetings Rosa Parks Families!

There was tons of excitement today as we celebrated the end of the year with a carnival.  It was a little soggy, but everyone still seemed to have a great time.  Special thanks to Gina Woodward for coordinating the festivities and to all the parents who volunteered.

I also want to thank the families of Olney for welcoming me to this community.  I have learned a great deal in my first year as the principal of RPMS, and I have truly enjoyed working with your children.

Here is the link to my final newsletter (also available on the RPMS website):

My big summer mailing will go out early in August.  Please take the time to rest and relax over the summer.  Thanks again for supporting Rosa Parks!

Dr. Jones, Principal
