Student Service Learning (SSL) Notes – January 2012

Student Service Learning (SSL) Notes – January 2012
Give a Little Time…Make a Big Difference

- Ring in the New Year by reflecting on 2011 service and resolving to continue to make a positive impact on the community.

- Consider steps needed to be recognized by an MCPS Awards Program as one who has contributed exceptional service. (MS = 75 hrs by the first Friday in April of a middle school year; HS 260 hrs by the first Friday in April of senior year.)

- Join with other Montgomery County residents as they share skills, talents, and interests at the Dr. Martin King Jr. Day of Service on January 16, 2012.

- The SSL graduation requirement is not intended to take the place of what individuals do to support their family, community, and faith-based organization members.

- Get involved in meaningful service with the Montgomery County Volunteer Center on the Martin L. King, Jr. Day of Service January 17.

A Message From Dr. Jones and New Dolphin Digest

Greetings RPMS Families,

This is an exciting week as we gear up for a much anticipated Winter Break.  Once students return, all focus must be on final exams.  An exam schedule will be posted to our website soon…please be sure your child attends school every day during exams.

Tomorrow afternoon is our first basketball game against Wood MS, and the debut of our poms squad during halftime.  I invite all parents to come out at 3:00 p.m.

Please read the newsletter to get the latest updates on what your child is studying.  You can go to the school website or click on this link:
