The RPMS PTA meeting was call to order by Cindy Keating, PTA president, at 7:30 p.m., in the school media center, on November 13, 2012.  Board members present included: Cindy Keating President, Tammy King 8th Grade VP, Amy Katzman 7th Grade VP, Kellie Blake 7th Grade VP and Christine Lucas Secretary.

Principal’s Report: RPMS principal, Dr. Donna Redmond Jones, welcomed parents and delivered the principal’s report.  She informed us that, hopefully, in 2017 Rosa Parks may see new student lockers. All parents should have seen their child’s report cards from November 14.  Dr. Jones informed us that Ms. Alice Calloway is the new Attendance Secretary for RPMS.

PTA President Report: Cindy Keating, PTA president:

  • The RPMS Scholastic Book Fair will be held November 26-30, 2012, with Megan McCormick as chairperson. Hours of operation: Monday through Thursday approximately 7:30am to 3:45pm, and on Friday 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • The RPMS website includes a Montgomery County School and RPMS calendar (iCal) that can be downloaded to a MAC or Microsoft Outlook.
  • Career day will be held February 22, 2013. The PTA is seeking speakers and volunteers.
  • The RPMS Directory has been distributed.
  • The RPMS PTA membership is at 422.
  • Over 390 hours have been logged in for RPMS volunteers for the month of October.
  • The next RPMS school dance is February 8, 2013.

Delegate Report: Cindy Keating introduced our new RPMS delegate Paul Geller.

Treasurer’s Report: Cindy Keating for Maureen Dymond, PTA Treasurer: An amount of $250.00 was allocated towards the 20th Anniversary Celebration for RPMS.

Amy Katzman and Cindy Walsh, both occupational therapists for Montgomery County, spoke to “Organizational Strategies for the Home and School Environments”.

The RPMS PTA meeting was call to order by Cindy Keating, PTA president, at 7:30 p.m., in the school media center, on October 9, 2012. Board members present included: Cindy Keating President, Tammy King 8th Grade VP, Amy Katzman 7th Grade VP, Christine Lucas Secretary, Maureen Dymond Treasurer.

Principal’s Report: RPMS principal, Dr. Donna Redmond Jones, welcomed parents and distributed a folder of RPMS information and the principal’s report. She informed us that after winter break, Mr. Richard LaRoca, will take on the role of principal for 6 weeks and Dr. Jones will be temporarily move to Kennedy High School during that time.

Kellie Blake notified us that ordering forms for RPMS Spirit Wear will be passed out during TAP. Items will be distributed during lunch. Forms and information are available via the RPMS Yahoo site http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rpmspta/

Treasurer’s Report: Maureen Dymond, PTA Treasurer: The RPMS budget started out with a positive balance. The goal is to spend the balance in order to give back to the school. Monies will be used towards: storage bins, reimbursement to teachers for out-of-pocket expenses, increase the Principal’s and President’s dinner and other items. The budget was approved.
